This is a really important one to me at the minute. Having your own small business means you are constantly up and down; one day you feel on top of the world, like its all going in the right direction and you'll have made your first million in the next year (that might be an exaggeration...), and then one bad day with no sales, or a parcel-no-show, or everyone on your social media being picked for something you haven't and that's it, I'm on job websites looking for a 40-hour desk job.
When I see my friends are working good jobs, earning proper wages and moving into houses I sometimes feel like I'm putting off real life and that I should be thinking about getting a 'proper' job. I also find it hard to tell people what I do, as I sometimes feel like the five-year-old telling the teacher that she wants to be a ballerina when she grows up. Sometimes I do have to remind myself that just because I’m not doing what everyone else is doing doesn’t mean I shouldn’t be doing it.
I love having my own business. I love being creative on a daily basis and deciding what the day ahead will hold. I love being able to take my laptop to a cafe and work in there if I fancy, or if I'm really not feeling it, I can pack up and head to the cinema. To me that freedom is worth the ups and downs.
